Princess of the Orient Wreck Documentation Project
The Princess of the Orient Wreck Documentation Project is a collaboration of GUE divers across Asia to provide more comprehensive documentation of the Princess of the Orient Wreck site outside of Manila Bay.
The initial project dives were conducted in April 2018 by the POTO team, during the dives the full wreck was explored externally including the stern and propellor sections of the wreck. A further trip was conducted in 2019 which included penetration of the wreck and documentation inside the wreck itself.
Aims of the Projects
The key project aims are to provide documentation of the wreck site via still photographs, video documentation and a 3D photogrammetry model.
Phase 1 (2018) of the project will focus on the outside of the wreck, phase 2 (2019) focused on both the outside and the interior.
The POTO Site
The Princess of the Orient Wreck site is located around 20km from Corregidor Island outside of Manila Bay.
The site is an advanced dive with depths of between 105 to 125m and a location with strong currents.
